Arsenal have reportedly put a new deal on the table for Jorginho

Jorginho's contract is up in the summer and it includes an option to extend for 12 months.

However, Arsenal want to reward Jorginho for his importance and have offered him fresh terms, which he is expected to agree to, according to The Athletic

He signed his existing contract in January 2023 when he joined the club for £12million from Chelsea

At 32, he shows every sign of still being a top-level midfielder and has managed 35 appearances this season.

He often features from the bench, something that could be frustrating for some former Champions League winners, but Mikel Arteta paid tribute to his top-notch attitude.

'For all the kids at the club, if you want to look at somebody, just look at him,' he said in February after the Gunners beat Liverpool 3-1.

'He’s won everything but you ask him not to play or play one minute last week he’s happy to go there. Ask him to play 90 minutes at that rhythm and he’s able to do that. I’m really lucky to have players like this.

'It’s a game that I had in my mind. I was imagining how much we were going to need him. He’s a really intelligent player, his biggest quality is that he makes the people around him better. He connects everybody. I think he was man of the match.'

Jorginho has similarly been full of compliments for his boss - even if those on English turf might not consider a comparison to Maurizio Sarri so flattering.

'He [Arteta] reminds me a little bit of Sarri,' Jorginho said last year. 'I am used to working with a manager that looks into the details.

'For me, details make the difference in the end between a good team and a winning team.

'I am sure, 100 per cent, that he worships [the details] so much. I've only been here a short time but I'm sure every day there is going to be something new and that's why I'm so excited as well because I can see that I have so much to learn here.'

Arsenal's sporting director Edu and his assistant, Jason Ayto, went to Saudi Arabia to meet officials last week, according to The Athletic

While they did not go out there to sound out any specific deals for players, they did get to know pertinent people around the Saudi Pro League.
