Two dead, third injured in crash on Arnhem Highway in Kakadu National Park

Two men have died and a third is seriously injured following a crash in the Northern Territory’s Kakadu National Park ahead of the Easter long weekend.

Emergency services were called after the vehicle the three men were travelling in crashed about 90km west of Jabiru on the Arnhem Highway just after 2pm on Thursday.

On arrival, police located “two deceased men within the vehicle” and a third who was outside with “serious injuries”.

The surviving man was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious condition.

“Major Crash detectives remain on scene, recovering the deceased men who are yet to be formally identified,” Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said.

“Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.”

The highway was closed in both directions with motorists advised to avoid the area overnight.
