Joselu was the hero on another incredible night at the Bernabeu

A dramatic late double by former Stoke forward Joselu sent Real Madrid through to the Champions League final at Wembley after a 4-3 aggregate win over Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The tie had been evenly-poised after four goals were shared in the first leg of the semi-final in Germany last week. Madrid had an impressive 13-month unbeaten home record and a wealth of European history behind them, but they were on the verge of a second consecutive last-four exit in this competition when Bayern substitute Alphonso Davies produced a 68th-minute rocket.

It stunned a previously buoyant home crowd, but Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti worked his magic and turned to his bench to save the day. Joselu answered the SOS as he made the most of a Manuel Neuer mistake to tap in the leveller after 88 minutes. Three minutes later he steered in a second, which was originally disallowed before it was given after VAR intervened. Ancelotti's team withstood an extended period of stoppage time and Matthijs de Lift had a late effort ruled out for the visitors to ensure Madrid booked an 18th appearance in a European Cup final days after they clinched the LaLiga title.

Thanks for following!

Joselu dragged Real Madrid past Bayern Munich and into Champions League final with a late brace in a remarkable semi-final win.

After 88 minutes, Real were heading out. Alphonso Davies had been set free on the left by Harry Kane, and he cut inside onto his weaker right foot and lashed a brilliant strike into the far corner.

But the job is seemingly never done at the Santiago Bernabeu and there was a strangely inevitable feel to the chaos that followed. A 4-3 aggregate win was another memorable chapter in Real’s rich European history, and they will look to write another one when they face Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on June 1.

Joselu pounced on a Manuel Neuer error to level it up on the night and on aggregate, the Bayern goalkeeper, up to that point sensational, fumbling Vinicius Jr’s tame effort straight into the striker’s path.

Bayern had by now bizarrely taken off Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane, evidently banking on getting the job done in 90 minutes, but they did not even make it to extra-time.

Bayern unhappy...

This really angered Thomas Tuchel and the Bayern bench - replays showed it was very tight for offside.

Think the fact Real Madrid had basically stopped played a fairly big role in the ball going in...

Those Thomas Tuchel changes will face plenty of scrutiny.

Harry Kane, Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala all brought off as Bayern tried to hold.

Left them with very little when they needed a late goal.

Pure chaos!

Did you expect anything else?
