WELL, THIS IS A REMARKABLE STORY OF SURVIVAL AND HERALDS WITH THE HAPPY ENDING BECAUSE AUTHORITIES SAY BOTH THE VICTIM AND THE GOOD SAMARITAN ARE GOING TO BE OKAY. OH MY GOD. THE BABY IS A TWO-YEAR-OLD GIRL THAT MAN IN A RED T-SHIRT. IS RESCUING FROM THE CHOPPY WATERS OF -- AND BAY AFTER SHE PLUNGED OFF THE ROUTE 90 BRIDGE IN OCEAN CITY WITHOUT REGARD FOR HIS OWN PERSONAL SAFETY AND WELL-BEING. HE IMMEDIATELY JUMPED INTO THE WATER ABOUT 25 TO 30 FEET FROM THE BRIDGE OVER THE RAILING AND RESCUED THE CHILD THE BABY WAS FACE DOWN IN THE WATER FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BUT BECAUSE OF THE UNBELIEVABLE AND HEROIC ACTIONS OF THIS HUMBLE HERO, HE WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE THE OUT IMMEDIATELY ACCORDING TO OCEAN CITY POLICE. THE CHILD WAS EJECTED FROM A PICKUP TRUCK ALONG WITH HER CAR SEAT FOLLOWING A FIVE VEHICLE CRASH SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THERE WAS A CAR SEAT RETRIEVED IN THE WATER AFTER THE CHILD WAS RESCUED. LOOK HOW THAT PICKUP IS DANGEROUSLY DANGLING ON THE SIDE OF THE BRIDGE. AUTHORITIES SAY THE DEBRIS SPREAD OVER TWO FOOTBALL FIELDS IN LENGTH WITH CARS EVERYWHERE THE ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE JUST BEFORE THREE SUNDAY AFTERNOON, OCEAN CITY. THESE ARE STILL INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE IT SENT EIGHT PEOPLE TO THE HOSPITAL ALL BUT THE TWO YEAR OLD HAVE BEEN RELEASED OCEAN CITY POLICE SAY SHE IS STABLE AT JOHNS HOPKINS HOSPITAL. ACCORDING TO OCEAN CITY FIRE OFFICIALS THE GOOD SAMARITAN GOT HE BANGED UP BUT IT’S GOING TO BE OKAY EVEN AFTER DIVING 25 TO 30 FEET INTO SHALLOW WATER, WHICH IS ONLY ABOUT FOUR. FEET AT BEST, SO IT WAS VERY HERO. DID AND THE BOTTOM LINE IS HE SAW HE SAVED THAT CHILD’S LIFE. A man who risked his life to save a toddler who was ejected into an Ocean City, Maryland, bay during a crash got a hero's thank you.Jonathan Bauer got to fly with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Friday as part of their "Hometown Hero" program. He got to ride in the back seat of an F-16 from Wallops Island, Virginia."It was amazing," Bauer told WRDE. "I mean, you'd be surprised at how smooth the plane flies and you're not working the pedals. It's more or less the joystick and then the plane is kind of taking over and compensating.""There was no fear in his heart going flying and I put him through the ringer. We went rolling. We pulled some Gs. We did some loops and he crushed all of it," Air Force Thunderbirds Maj. Jason Markzon told WRDE.It's not the only honor Bauer has received. The Ocean City Fire Department named his family honorary members of the department. Last month, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan presented a governor's citation to Bauer, saying in a Facebook post, "I'm so glad I had the chance to meet his family and thank him, on behalf of all Marylanders, for his incredible selflessness and bravery." Last month, Bauer jumped 25 feet off the Maryland Route 90 bridge to save the life of a toddler. The vehicle the young girl was riding in crashed, causing her to be thrown from her seat.
