Novak Djokovic is back at the summit of men's tennis for the first time since June.

The Serb's Australian Open victory put him back at No. 1 in the ATP rankings after a four-place rise, the largest jump to the top spot in the 50-year history of the computerised rankings for men's tennis.

Aryna Sabalenka's first major title moved her up from No. 5 to a career-best-equalling No. 2 in the WTA rankings, behind three-time major champion Iga Swiatek.

Djokovic deposed Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz, who had become the youngest No. 1 male after winning the US Open last September, but missed the Australian Open because of injury.
