It seems like it’s been an eternity of waiting, but the How I Met Your Mother reboot, How I Met Your Father, is finally here. And aside from the obvious connection that, like, it’s a reboot of the original show, there’s a fun Easter egg tying the two series together. Let’s set the scene and get into it. In the very first episode of the reboot, we meet our main character, Sophie (played by Hilary Duff), who’s looking for love in all the wrong places, aka in a series of 87 Tinder dates. On the way to one of those many Tinder dates, she meets Jesse and Sid. That’s where the fun begins.

Because this is a HIMYM reboot and therefore we need to have at least a few girls and a few guys coming together to make one distinct friend group, the story quickly establishes that Sophie and her roommate, Valentina, will in fact be friends with Jesse and Sid, who are also roommates. And at the end of a very long night out together, Jesse and Sid invite the girls back to their place. That’s where we get the first big Easter egg: Jesse and Sid’s apartment is actually Marshall and Ted’s apartment from the original series.

Naturally, because it is a baller apartment, Sophie comments on how great it is, and the guys explain it this way: “It was a total score. We got it from this old married couple who posted it on the Wesleyan alumni group. We even got them to leave their swords.” Yes, THE swords are still hanging on the wall, where they rightfully deserve to be.

Hopefully this is just the first of many Easter eggs in this continuation. I would actually pay money for them to go back to MacLaren’s at least once.
