The AAPI Victory Fund is a voter mobilization group for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Friday’s event was intended as a launch of the group’s voting efforts for the 2022 elections.

Harris, the first person of South Asian descent to become vice president, highlighted what she called an “epidemic of hate” in the wake of several racist mass shootings.

“We must organize against those who seek to incite violence,” she said.

She also complemented the work by the organization to help send her and Biden to the White House, and their continued work in the face of rising anti-Asian racism.

“I believe that there is nothing that we have achieved in this nation that has been about progress that did not come with hard work and struggle,” she said.
