A livid Jeremy Clarkson has said a fox killed 34 of his hens.

The Grant Tour star runs Diddly Squat farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, and was supported by his loyal followers overnight after revealing the unwelcome visitor.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Jeremy – whose hens’ eggs he sells at his Diddly Squat Farm Shop – said that a large number of his chickens had been destroyed, writing: ‘A fox has just killed 34 of my hens.’

While the presenter didn’t share any further information on the situation, when a follower questioned whether Jeremy was being serious or not and shared they were ‘waiting for the punchline’, the former Top Gear host said: ‘You’ll hear it’, as fans suggested he was going to take matters into his own hands to deal with the fiendish fox.

Over on his Instagram, Jeremy shared a clip of a bunch of chickens – we can only assume they’re his own pen dwellers – warbling, as he wrote: ‘A fox has just killed all of them.’

Followers of the star – who also has sheep and cows on his farm – rallied in the comments, with model and publican Jodie Kidd replying of her own lack of luck on the chicken protection front: ‘Oh noooooooooooo !!!!! They ate mine to. [sic]’

Another follower chimed in: ‘I lost five ducks last month. I feel your pain.’

Sharing some helpful hints of her own, Carole Bamford wrote: ‘Oh no. That’s happened to me a few times. You have to dig down two feet to put the chicken wire down in the ground.’

Jeremy was clearly feeling energised by his supporters, as he defiantly declared alongside a freeze-frame from an iconic Top Gear moment what his intentions were.

To put it plainly? ‘I’m gonna get that bastard.’

The presenter has been laying down roots in Oxfordshire, creating a business out of Diddly Squat farm, which he has documentated himself building from the ground up.

Initially planning to film over the space of a year for Amazon series I Bought The Farm, Jeremy has built Diddly Squat farm from… well, diddly squat, and has since invested in 250,000 bees, with the honey sold in the farm’s store.

Taking us on a tour of the property on his YouTube last year, aided by his girlfriend Lisa Hogan, who was behind the counter, Jeremy revealed they’d been making sourdough bread and honey fresh on the farm, as well as sourcing typical fruit and veg.

Tragically, they may be a little short on eggs for the time being, though.
