GULF SHORES, Ala. — The LSU beach volleyball team won on Courts 2, 3 and 4 to upset TCU 3-2 and advance to the NCAA quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.
The No. 11-seeded Tigers (26-11) will take on No. 3 Stanford (32-5) at noon Saturday in the quarterfinal round. Another upset victory would send LSU to the semifinals at 2:30 p.m. Saturday against the winner between No. 7 California and No. 2 UCLA.
On Friday against TCU, the Tigers lost on Court 1, but each of the next three tandems — Parker Bracken and Reilly Allred; Aubrey O'Gorman and Ella Larkin; and Amber Haynes and Skylar Martin — won in three sets to clinch the matchup for LSU.
The Tigers have reached the NCAA championships each season since 2017. They lost in last year's quarterfinals to Florida State.
