The General Confederation of the Civil Service (CGFP) has responded to assertions made by Minister for the Civil Service Serge Wilmes during an interview on RTL Radio on Tuesday morning.

During his interview with RTL Radio, Minister Wilmes accused the CGFP of conflating two distinct systems amidst the ongoing disagreement over the general salary agreement and the evaluation system within the Luxembourg Army.

In response to Minister Wilmes' remarks, the CGFP, following a protest rally on Monday evening, issued a press release asserting that the minister "once again added fuel to the fire with his statements on the radio." The civil servants' union further contended that that the minister is "not telling the truth" in claiming that the evaluation system in the army differs from the general system slated for abolition within the civil service.

Coinciding with the CGFP's response, the government issued an official statement affirming Minister Wilmes' stance as articulated on RTL Radio. The statement reiterated that while the current evaluation system in the civil service would be abolished, the one in the army is deemed necessary to uphold soldier safety and ensure the credibility of the military.
