Deadline to request mail-in ballot in Pennsylvania has passed, options for voters
There were long lines outside of the Allegheny County Office Building on Tuesday which was the last day to request a mail-in ballot.
It was also the last day to request, fill-out and submit a mail in-person at the county’s Elections Division office. Old and young voters added to the more than 250,000 ballots already returned in Allegheny County.
Point Park student Grace Woerkema said this is the safest voting option.
“I honestly trust doing it in person a lot more than doing it in the mail right now, because of all the weird stuff with USPS,” said Woerkema.
Earlier on Tuesday, Pennsylvania’s top elections official encouraged voters to take mail-in ballots to a secure drop off spot rather than putting them in the mail.
Leaders in Allegheny County agree. In a new video, county officials told people to bring their mail in ballots to the county elections division.
For those wanting to vote in-person on Nov. 3 after previously requesting a mail-in ballot, county Councilwoman Bethany Hallam explained the process.
“You need to bring it, the ballot in both envelopes to your poll on Election Day to make sure that you can vote in person,” said Hallam.
