Ed Sheeran looks set to make a comeback for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and no one can handle it.

The Shape Of You hitmaker is performing for the virtual event, which is being held from May 28 to 31 and promises ‘brand new sets’ from all the artists.

He’s joining the likes of Anne Marie, AJ Tracey, Celeste, London Grammar, and Mabel for the event, which will see more than 100 live performances take place.

Usually held as an in-person festival, this year the Big Weekend is designed to be enjoyed in parks, gardens, and at home as coronavirus restrictions are still in place across the UK.

Fans are completely hyped to see Ed back in action, with one commenting: ‘Ed Sheeran is back !!! 💛💛💛’.

‘EDDDD FINALLYY,’ another said, while one more added: ‘@teddysphotos CANNOT WAIT.’

Others have speculated that the 30-year-old could be about to announce some new music, and we’re definitely holding onto that tiny ray of hope.

Ed has been keeping things very low key since 2019, taking a break from the spotlight as he and his wife Cherry welcomed their baby daughter Lyra last year.

However, he seems to be slowly plotting his grand return, as he was seen filming a new video in London.

Pictures obtained by the Sun showed the new dad rocking a pink suit and Dracula-style fangs while in front of the cameras in Catford.

He was surrounded by others in similar costumes for the scenes, before shedding the outfit for a bomber jacket and jeans as he played a guitar on a rooftop.

Locals were left shocked by Ed’s appearance, with one telling the publication it was very unexpected.

Ed announced his break in 2019, saying that things had been ‘a bit non-stop since 2017.’

He thanked fans, before saying: ‘I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I’ve lived a little more to actually have something to write about.’

Two years on, is the right time finally here? We’ll be finding out very soon!
