A school bus has flipped over this afternoon (Monday) with 'a number' of children hospitalised, it's been reported. The road remains closed after the bus, which was bringing schoolchildren home, crashed in Frome, Somerset.

A number of passengers were taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Emergency services attended the scene on the B3090 Oldford Hill at around 3.35pm.

A number of passengers were checked over by paramedics at the scene while others were taken to hospital for further assessment. Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Investigating officers from Avon and Somerset Police are now liaising with the school and the parents of children involved in the crash. Enquiries are also taking place at the scene to establish the cause of the collision, reports SomersetLive.

The police warn that the road is likely to remain for some time. Motorists have been urged to avoid the area where possible.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: "Oldford Hill in both directions closed due to accident investigation work between Orchardleigh turn off and Cuckoo Lane. Traffic is coping well.

"A bus had overturned and investigations are now ongoing, affecting traffic between Frome and Beckington."
