Comedian Bill Burr recently defended his former “The Mandalorian” co-star Gina Carano in a new interview, The Blaze reports.

Burr was interviewed on the “All Things Comedy” podcast with guest Joe DeRosa in February, according to The Blaze. The interview had a slew of mature language so we have not linked to it. His full comments — with curse words replaced with asterisks — can be found at The Blaze.

Burr said he never saw Carano spread false information or conservative beliefs on set.

  • “No! She was an absolute sweetheart,” Burr said, according to The Blaze.

Burr also said someone will use his comments to “make me say something else, and you know, try to get rid of my bald action figure!”

He also criticized those who work to take down celebrities, The Blaze reports.

Context

Lucasfilm and Disney recently cut ties with Carano after her social media posts.

  • A Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement to i09: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

The firing came after she shared a social media post that compared attacks on Jewish people during Nazi Germany to how people are criticized today over political beliefs, as I wrote about for the Deseret News.

Carano had faced criticism from some people on social media for months, as I’ve written about for the Deseret News. People created the #FireGinaCarano hashtag that called on Disney to fire the actress from “The Mandalorian” in the fall because of her tweets about the COVID-19 vaccineDemocratsface masks and voter fraud, among other political issues, as I wrote about for the Deseret News. The social media backlash eventually led to her firing.
