Xiaomi to unveil first Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 flagship

A few of Qualcomm’s phone partners always make an appearance at the company’s annual Snapdragon Summit to reveal which of their devices will be powered by the next flagship chipset. Historically, Xiaomi has always been the first to announce its premium offering for next year, and according to a tipster, the Chinese manufacturer will retain those exclusive rights when it unveils its first Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 smartphone. However, showcasing a launch is one thing, and making it officially available to purchase is another.

Xiaomi 15 to be the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 flagship to be announced in Q4 2024, followed by the OnePlus 13

Later this year, we will be getting a new chipset, but the names of the companies making their respective announcements of showing off their Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 flagships will remain the same, according to Yogesh Brar. In a way, Xiaomi continues to make a brilliant marketing move by being the first Qualcomm smartphone partner to unveil its Android flagship for next year since that will attract a ton of eyeballs that will be laser-focused on its products.

The Xiaomi 15 will likely be the first series to flaunt the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, and with this exclusive treatment, the company might even have collaborated with Qualcomm behind the scenes to tweak the SoC and deliver the best balance of performance and efficiency. Followed by Xiaomi, the tipster notes that OnePlus and iQOO will be the next brands to unveil their versions of top-end handsets, which will launch in 2025.

Competing with the Xiaomi 15, we will eventually get the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13. Even though Samsung is one of Qualcomm’s closest phone partners, it is always strange that the Korean giant was never the first to make an appearance at the Snapdragon Summit despite selling the most units featuring a Snapdragon chipset. It will be interesting to see how Xiaomi prices its upcoming flagship family, as a Qualcomm executive previously stated that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be the company’s most expensive smartphone chipset ever.

With the Snapdragon Summit, which is said to be held in October, we will witness firsthand how Qualcomm has raised the bar compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the rest of the competition, so stay tuned for more updates in the future.
